LANE'S RED BEAR

ASCA/AKC

Bear lives to work but his style of working isn’t for the faint of heart. He has a lot of power and presence and bite. He can be hard-headed and quick to judge whether you mean a command or if he can get away with doing it "his way". He requires a firm, consistent handler. Bear works very naturally and instinctively. He has only a few commands and the rest he works based on his instinct and natural ability. He bounces back from reprimands very quickly and willingly. He doesn't get mad or quit working like some more easily offended, sensitive dogs. Tons of grit and no quit.

Not only is he a strong worker but he also has a great temperament. He has never initiated a fight with another dog and never loses his temper. He is totally fine being bossed around by puppies, females, and gets along great with other intact males. He's the politest dog you will ever meet. He loves chores around the ranch and the household. He doesn't wander off and find trouble on neighboring property, preferring to patrol his own territory around the house and stay near his people. He has a very mischievous streak and will engage in play-fights and might run off with your glove in the process. He is distrustful of strangers and does not seek affection or attention from people he doesn't know, which is how we personally prefer our dogs to act around strangers. His working intensity and easy-going temperament are why we chose him as our stud dog and offer him to select outside females. He has sired some really nice pups.
